Land Creates Landscape
(Land skaber landskab)
During the summer and autumn of 2022, a special apparatus was installed in the park of Sostrup Castle in the Danish Countryside. Its purpose was to enable the land (-scape) to draw a self-portrait.
A funnel was meant to collect falling leaves and rainwater. A wind-driven blade should help to mix and shred both into a coloured liquid that would seep through a hose into a spongy drawing tip. A metal rod connected to a tree's branch was to move it up and down on a roll of paper, that would be slowly rotated by wind power.
However, functionality could not be optimized, so the sculpture remained an experimental sculptural sketch, that only produced a small drawing. |
